French Polynesia
In successive days beginning Nov. 4, we landed on the island of Moorea, then Bora Bora and the third island, a two-day stop at Papaeete, Tahiti, capital of French Polynesia. At the three stops we took open-air bus tours. We departed Tahiti and thought the trip had come to an end until a medical emergency was announced after we were out to sea, requiring the stop at Nuku Hiva. Also, it meant we would be one day late returning to Los Angeles. Most passengers had to frantically make changes to travel plans.... It was organized chaos, with rooms full of people making transatlantic calls to airlines, most managed to update their changed flight connections. I must say it was organized, with telephones devoted to each airline being handed off from each passenger to the next. The shuttle flight home was a relief.
